Q1. If the application meets the eligibility criteria, does this guarantee that  funding will be granted?
These are not guaranteed funds. Available funds may uctuate annually based on the success of fundraising initiatives.

Q2. What is covered?
On approval, Breakaway Foundation will cover the cost of basic minor hockey registration. Additional cost beyond basic registration will be at the discretion of the Breakaway Foundation Board of Directors.

Q3. What ages are eligible for Breakaway funding?
Youth, 18 years and under. Applicants must be eligible to register with Hockey Canada for minor hockey programs.

Q4. Does the applicant have to be a resident of the province to qualify for funding?
Yes

Q5. Is there a maximum amount of funding per applicant?
Yes. Breakaway Foundation will fund minor hockey registration up to to $500 per applicant.

Q6. How many applications can be submitted per applicant in a calendar year?
One application per hockey season.

Q7. What is the deadline for applications?
November 15th of the respective hockey season.

Q8. Who must make the request for funding on behalf of minor athlete?
Application must be initiated by a parent or guardian.

Q9. Where do I submit the application?
Completed applications must be submitted to local minor hockey association for review and verication by the local minor hockey President.

Q11. When will applications be processed?
Applications will be reviewed by the application committee every 2 weeks.

Q12. Who receives notication when applications are approved?
Breakaway will contact applicants and the afliated minor hockey association to advise the status of the application by the email or telephone numbers provided on the applications.

Q13. What are funding arrangements?
Funds for all approved applications will be made payable to the respective minor hockey association. Applicants are not issued funding directly or reimbursed for fees that have already been paid.

Q14. What procedure should be followed if the athlete decides to withdraw from minor hockey?
Funds must be pro-rated and minor hockey association will be responsible to return remaining funds to Breakaway.

Q15. Can funding be transferred to another family member or athlete?
No. All funds must be applied to registration for the applicant named. Other family members must make a separate application.
